 about nascow

The 4th Annual Nascow fundraiser takes place October 20, 2023 at 6 p.m.to raise money to
care for our animals and support the farm. Read on to see who will be racing and how to sponsor your favorite to COW to win.

That’s right, NASCOW is a race with COWS!  Seven resident cows have registered to participate. They love to eat, and the prospect of being first to the finish line to enjoy extra-tasty brewers grain gets them very excited to be the first to arrive at the finish line.
This extra tasty grain is highly nutritious and part of their diet when available but there is no danger of
getting tipsy for them!

Sponsor the NASCOW you hope will win and visit the SPONSORSHIP page for special options – ring side seating, fence banners, recognition and more.  Every dollar makes a difference.

Iris wins for the second year in a row!
She is the 2023 and the 2022 Nascow Winner.
Congratulations Iris!

NASCOW FundRACER Participants:

Hokie is all Angus, and came to us via the Virginia Tech breeding program thanks to our generous VA Tech supporters.  She is famous for running her own street race shortly after moving to Frying Pan.

Marybelle is a Guernsey cow and our resident 2020 NASCOW champion.  Will she be able to hold on to her title this year?

Iris is an Angus/Hereford cross and is Rain’s daughter.  She was born on Easter in 2021.

Florence is our only Hereford/Shorthorn cross.  She was born the week of hurricane Florence in 2018.

Helene is also an Angus cow.  She was born the week of hurricane Helene in 2018.

Polly is an Angus cow and is Hokie’s daughter. She is named for Virginia Polytechnic.

Ann is our newest cow to join the herd. She came from a winery in Loudoun County that makes cheese.
