The National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials gave the Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park a 2021 NACPRO Award in the Outstanding Support Organization category.

“For years, Frying Pan’s Friends group has provided critical support to Frying Pan Farm Park and has raised money to care for the 100 animals it owns at the urban farm by hosting events, such as horse shows and festivals. Last year, these events were canceled due to COVID-19, but the Friends created a novel NASCOW experience that helped to bring their fundraising to record levels. Members of the public were invited to ‘sponsor’ the park’s cows in a race. A social media video allowed fans to watch and see a winner declared.”

2021 National Association of Government Communicators gave the Friends a Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Award for excellence in government communications.

“NASCOW, a fundraising event sponsored by the Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park, won second place kudos in the Special Event or Conference category. The event allowed folks to sponsor a contender in the park’s NASCOW cow race to help raise money to purchase feed for the farm animals.”

Virginia Living Magazine’s “Best of Virginia 2021” competition

Frying Pan Farm Park came in second place and was noted as offering visitors unique recreational experiences and having some of the highest visitation rates in the entire park system. Frying Pan Farm Park in Herndon features Kidwell Farm, a favorite with families who love to visit the animals, enjoy wagon rides, visit the blacksmith, or tour a farmhouse.
