  • The summer series is designed for practice and fun.  Tests are scored and available for pickup (no classes/ribbons).  Tests returned shortly after rides are completed.

  • Schooling (Show Ring): 3:00 – 3:45
  • Schooling during the show – any available space (Upper Ring, Lower Ring, Warm Up Ring, and XC field)
  • All classes are $18, a $10 office will be charged per rider.  
  • Day stalls are available for rent.

Leadline (BHSA): Open to riders 7 years of age and under. May not cross enter into any divisions where they would be asked to trot.

Award Rules & Point System – VHSA points system followed.

Ribbons will be awarded for champion and reserve champion for each division. Ribbons awarded 1st-6th place for each class. 

Points: 1st- 10, 2nd- 6, 3rd- 4, 4th- 2, 5th- 1, 6th- 1/2  Champion- 10, Reserve Champion- 6

1. Every class herein, which is covered by the rules and regulations of the current VHSA and BHSA rule books, will be conducted and judged accordingly. VHSA rules take priority in VHSA divisions and classes. 
2. All entries must show a current negative Coggins test (taken within 12 months) before a number will be issued. If you are shipping from out of state, you will be required to show a current health certificate.
3. Class fees are $15 per class. With pre-registration at www.fryingpanequestrian.org. Pre-registrations must be submitted by midnight the night before the show.
4. New back/bridle numbers will be issued at each show, unless otherwise requested by the rider on their entry form.
5. Entry fees will not be refunded for a class once that class has begun. If you need to scratch a class, you must do so one class prior to that class. With failure to scratch one class prior, no refund will be given.
6. Any class shown in and not entered before the class starts will be charged the entry fee plus a $10.00 office charge.
7. All equitation classes will be judged on hands, seat, guidance, and control.
8. Frying Pan Farm Park; Fairfax County Park Authority; Founders, Benefactors, Supervisors, Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park; their employees; and volunteers will not be responsible for any accident, injury, or loss occurring during the shows. Exhibitors enter the shows under this condition.
9. Scores based on 1st – 10, 2nd – 6, 3rd – 4, 4th – 2, 5th – 1, 6th – 1/2 points. Bonus Points: Champion 10, reserve 6.
10. Entries showing “unjudged” will be limited to the end of the class, if time permits. Unjudged entries pay the same entry fee for each round.
11. At the option of management, a dotted line may be enforced.
12. A three minute gate call will be given for all classes. If no rider enters the ring when the class is called during the three minute time period, the class will be cancelled. Entry fees will still be owed by rider(s) who miss their class and did not fill out and submit a class scratch card by one class prior.
13. Hard hats are required at all times while mounted. Juniors must wear safety helmets with approved (USEF or USPC) harness fastened.
14. Judge’s decisions are final.
15. No credit will be given in any classes with fewer than three entries.
16. Proper attire required in all classes. Please reference the VHSA/USHJA Rule books for specifics.
17. Management reserves the right to cancel, combine, or split classes, if necessary.                                                                                  18.     Junior Hopeful Jumper Division
    Open to junior riders under the age of 18 as of Dec 1, 2017 only.
    Judged Riders in this class are not eligible for classes 12-26 at this show.

    Open to all adult riders.
    Judged Riders in this division are not eligible for classes 12-26 at this show.
     
    Puddle Jumper Division
    Open to all Junior and Adult riders on horses or ponies. Fence height 2’-2’3”
     
    Novice Jumper
    VHSA Associate/BHSA. Open to horses and ponies in their 1st or 2nd year of showing in jumper classes at 2’ 6”
    or higher as of Dec 1 of the current show year. Horses and ponies in this division may cross enter into Novice Child/Adult Amateur if rider is eligible, and Low Jumper. Fence Height2’3”-2’6”.
     
    Novice Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumper
    VHSA Associate/BHSA Open to children and adult amateurs in their 1st or 2nd year of showing in Jumper classes 2’6”or higher as of Dec 1, of the current show year. Riders in this division may cross enter into Novice Jumper, if eligible, and Low Jumper at the same show. Fence height 2’3”-2’6”
     
    Novice Jumper and Novice Child/Adult Amateur divisions may be combined if entries are light.
     
    Low Jumpers VHSA Associate/BHSA Open to all. Fence Height 2’6”-3’
    Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumpers. VHSA Associate/BHSA. Open to those that qualify. Fence Height: 2’6”-3’3”
     
    Schooling Jumpers. VHSA associate/BHSA. Open to all riders. Fence Height: 3’-3’6”
     
    Class Specifications
    Table II, Sec. 1. The first round is decided by adding together the faults incurred over the course and any penalties for exceeding the Time Allowed. Horses with clean rounds or equal faults will be classified according to their time taken to complete the course.
     
    Table II, Sec. 2 (a/b). Each exhibitor has the option of taking part in the jump-off at the completion of their round as in 2(b), or after all exhibitors have completed the first round as in 2(a).

Year end high point division awards will be given in all divisions.  Riders must show in two (2) out of the five (5) shows to be eligible.
Frying Pan Farm Park employees are not eligible for awards.
2. Juniors and amateurs must declare eligibility by checking the appropriate box on the entry form. This is the exhibitor’s responsibility. Undeclared riders will not be eligible.
3. Juniors, amateurs and professionals are defined by U.S.E.F. rules.
4. Scores based on 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/2 Champion 10, reserve 6.
5. Awards to be offered at the five shows are included in the prize list.
6. Grand high point awards will be accumulated scores from the five shows.
7. In the event of a tie, a coin toss may be used determine the winner.
1. ASTM/SEI Certified Helmets with harness fastened must be worn when mounted.
2. Entries for each class will close when the course walk for that class begins
. The jumping order will be determined by draw and will be prepared and posted during the course walk before each class. Anyone riding more than one horse that needs to change horse’s order of go must see the announcer before the class begins. Otherwise, failure to jump in the designated order will result in elimination.
3. The protocol for showing jumpers is different than for showing hunters. Riders who are not familiar with the protocol are encouraged to speak with the show secretary before the start of the show.
4. A current negative Coggins (taken within 12 months) must be shown before a number will be issued.
5. The show will be run with U.S.E.F. rules as guidelines.
6. Frying Pan Farm Park, Fairfax County Park Authority, Founders, Benefactors, Supervisors and Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park, their employees and volunteers will not be responsible for any accident, injury or loss occurring during the shows. Exhibitors enter the show under this condition.
7. There will be six ribbons in all classes. Champion and Reserve will be awarded in all divisions.
8. Horses and ponies may cross enter where eligible
9. No horse, whether judged or un-judged, may enter in more than nine classes
in any show.
10. Entries showing un-judged will be limited to the end of the class. Un-judged entries pay the same entry fee for each round.
11. There will be an order of go established for each class. Riders must be ready to go in the posted order, and within one minute of being called, or risk elimination.
12. Frying Pan Farm Park employees are not eligible for awards.
