Steve Gulley and New Pinnacle

On Sunday, March 12, welcome Steve Gulley and New Pinnacle to the Bluegrass Barn at the Frying Pan Visitor Center! Steve Gulley and New Pinnacle offers high intensity, fresh style of bluegrass. Steve quotes a Buck Owens saying: the band’s music “feels like a locomotive charging through your living room.” “The only thing I don’t like about this song, is that I didn’t write it! A great song from one of our luminaries that will surely start climbing the charts,” says Terry Herd (Bluegrass Radio Network / Bluegrass Today) about the band’s song,”Leaving Crazytown” Advance tickets available online for $18 until 4pm on concert day. $20 tickets available at the door. Doors open at 6pm. Music starts at 7pm. Indoor shows held at the Frying Pan Visitor Center, 2739 West Ox Road. Food and drinks, including beer and wine, are available for purchase; see the menu here . New this year, group ticketing, 10 or more, is available for only $16 per person. Night is falling and it’s time for the animals to go to sleep. Find out what the farmers do at the end of the day.Sign up now before it fills! Six sessions in March (3/8, 3/9,3/14, 3/16) include two that are adapted for people with disabilities (3/25 for ages 2-7 and 3/30 for ages 12-17). Don’t forget your flashlight!

Want to work at Frying Pan Farm Park? We are a 135 acre park with equestrian facilities, 70 acres of undeveloped land with a nature trail, 20 historic buildings, and a working historic farm. Frying Pan currently has these positions available: Birthday Party Facilitator : Help make positive childhood memories and gain valuable experience in the parks and recreation field by facilitating birthday parties at the park. Historic Farm Educator : Learn and grow your knowledge of farming, rural community life and culture as you connect the park’s visitors to the historic treasures of Frying Pan Farm Park. Store Clerk: Staff the Country Store and sel l a large variety of items to park customers. Position is 20+ hours per week with weekend shift work expected. Summer job openings include Counselors-In-Training as well as Camp Counselors, who will plan, implement and supervise educational activities for children in formal and informal hands-on programming. Want to learn to ride a horse?

Enroll now for upcoming Therapeutic Horseback Riding lessons for ages 3 to Adult in the Indoor Arena; the next series begins the first week of April. Riders learn safe and effective horsemanship in an inclusive setting. Each lesson is tailored to the rider’s abilities. Start Beginner Horseback Riding for ages 8-14 years during the first weeks of March and April. Step back in time

The Kidwell Farm house officially opens for the season Saturday, March11th from 10am to noon. Call (703) 437-9101to ask about the schedule. Watch for the “Kidwell House Open”sign and come see the new exhibits  Volunteers Needed Become a docent! Lead both group and individual tours around the farm, at special events, and for daily visitors. Prime topics include historic buildings,farmhouse, farmyard, garden, and horse shows.Training provided. Frying Pan volunteer opportunities are available here. Country Store News

New hours March 7. Monday through Saturday, the store will be open10am-4:30pm. On Sundays, it will be open 11am-4:30pm.Daily wagon rides resume March 13.
